The Altar of the Fatherland and the Goddess Rome – Vittoriano

The Goddess Rome and the Altar of the Fatherland. Angelo Zanelli and the invention of the symbols of a united Italy. The exhibition celebrates the conclusion of the restoration campaign of the frieze of the Altar of the Fatherland created by the Lombard sculptor Angelo Zanelli. Once the scaffolding was dismantled, the frieze was returned to the public’s eyes on the occasion of the inauguration of the exhibition. In the exhibition itinerary it is also possible to admire for the first time a selection of plaster casts from the Gipsoteca del Vittoriano that boast a connection with the Altar of the Fatherland and its author, also restored for the occasion.
